Progressive environmental stewardship

Right from the start, Minatura’s Environmental Management Department supports each exploration project by conducting environmental risk and opportunity studies, obtaining permits and incorporating sound environmental designs in accordance with the ISO 4001 Environment Management System. This model is based on US EPA recommendations and exceeds current Colombian standards. Each project requires an Environmental License that mandates both an Environmental Impact Study and an Environmental Management Plan.

Mr. Ceballos, who leads our Environmental and Social Engineering programs, is a forest engineer and a specialist in geographic information systems. He is also an expert in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of Environmental Impact Studies and Environmental Management Plans. Under his guidance and direction, Minatura teams work closely with government agencies to protect the land, air and water throughout all phases of each project. The company utilizes state-of-the-art equipment as well as our own proprietary technology in a pioneering effort to protect the environment and establish new benchmarks for ethical mining practices in Colombia. As part of this comprehensive commitment, we meticulously restore whatever land we disturb. We deploy advanced technologies and have devised innovative methods to clean up and restore areas that have been contaminated by the mercury miners have used for centuries throughout Colombia.
